A transcription of a Cheltenham doctor’s prescription book has been completed by CLHS volunteers. With 2,500 entries covering a 2-year period from July 1877, and comprising names, addresses and some other details such as occupations, plus a list of paupers, it gives an interesting insight into the working life of Dr Walker, one of the Medical Officers of the Dispensary in St George’s Place, and his patients, who came from both the poorer and more well-to-do areas of the town. We have indicated whether a prescription was issued in each case, but have not transcribed the detail.
